5' X 8' KAYAK DOCK by ACCUDOCK: $599.00 - NO STABILIZING BRACKETS
AccuDock listens to their customers and we are always trying to improve our docks, based on your suggestions and ideas. Our customers were asking for an inexpensive portable kayak dock, that was easy enough to get in the water and out, and at the same time be stable and safe for launching a kayak without ending up in the water! Here it is.
The 5 X 8 kayak dock (without stabilizing brackets) is quite stable and can easily be used by two adults with a 2 person tandem kayak.

This dock requires no permits as it is a temporary float, only tied up into position. Leave it in the water as long as you want - and when you are done kayaking - take the dock out - pull it up on the dock and store it, it only weighs 85 pounds. (consult local rules and regulations)
WARNING: The 5 X 8 kayak dock ($599 WITHOUT STABILIZING BRACKETS) is sufficiently stable to launch and retrieve your kayak - but in no way has the stability of a dock that is installed with AccuDock Kayak Dock brackets (see the 4 X 8 Kayak Dock), (5 X 8 Kayak Dock with stabilizing brackets) or Slide Assemblies - which hold the dock so firmly in place that you can jump up and down on the extreme corners with no worry of tipping into the water. That is why it is priced less than the 4 X 8 Kayak Dock with stabilizing brackets ($899.00), and 5 X 8 Kayak Dock with stabilizing brackets ($1049.00).
Consider the amount of stability you require prior to purchase. You can attach AccuDock's kayak dock stabilizing brackets as an option in Step 3 below - and make it 100% stable.
As as added bonus- the 5 X 8 is portable and can be pulled out of the water easily and also be used as a work float to do work on the dock or maintenance on a boat, or vessel on a boat lift (without having to remove brackets or bolts) - loaned to a neighbor - or taken to the summer house, as it fits in the back of a pick-up or on top of a SUV.
What comes with this dock for $599?
The 5 X 8 Kayak Dock comes with two cleats. No special brackets, no connectors, nothing else needed.
STEP TWO: CHOOSE YOUR METHOD OF INSTALLATION
Will I need anything else to install this dock?
No, just push this dock into the water, tie if off using the cleats, and launch your kayak! When you are done pull it back out of the water - it only weighs 84 pounds - or leave it in the water - your choice. Make sure you watch the video above - which shows the correct way to get on and off a kayak using AccuDock's low profile floating docks.
PVC pilings placed against the dock/seawall ( to help keep the dock in position) is one of many inexpensive and simple ways, to ensure your dock doesn’t float away or under the dock while you are off kayaking. Simply tap the pilings down into the seabed, strap the tops to the edge of your dock, and tie your dock off to the PVC pilings using a line from the cleats – around the poles and back to your cleats. NOTE: DO NOT TIE THE DOCK TIGHTLY TO THE PVC PILING, AS WHEN THE TIDE RISES THE ROPE MAY PULL THE PILING UP OUT OF THE SEABED. You may elect to tie it a little more securely while you are using it, but when done remember to loosen the line so that it can easily slide up and down the piling.
Shown above is a method of tying your float off to the PVC pilings - we have added 1" sections of PVC with the line fed through the PVC sections, to help protect the line and make it easy to slide up and down the PVC poles with waves and tidal movement. NOTE: DO NOT TIE THE DOCK TIGHTLY TO THE PVC PILING, AS WHEN THE TIDE RISES THE ROPE MAY PULL THE PILING UP OUT OF THE SEABED.

What comes with this dock for $1049?
The 5' X 8' Kayak dock features a 5 x 8 framed (marine grade aluminum frame) floating dock with stabilizing lower brackets - which attach to the float and allow it to float up and down with the tide and waves - while providing unparalleled stability for such a small float.
STEP TWO: CHOOSE YOUR METHOD OF INSTALLATION
Will I need anything else to install this dock?
Yes, upper brackets to hold the PVC piling tops. We have two different styles. How far your tide comes up near the surface of your dock or seawall determines which style you need to use. You will need (2) 4" PVC schedule 40 or higher in at least a 10" length. The PVC pipe you will purchase locally and is available from Lowes or Home Depot - for cheaper than we can ship it to you.
Tie-up (OK): Cleats - to tie off to, to hold your dock in position: $15 each with hardware.

The first style (above right) comes in 8" or 12" lengths and attaches to your dock/seawall. This style is used to hold the PVC pipe top where the tide NEVER comes within 18" of where you install the bracket. You can see in this first picture that if the tide ever went above the dock level - the lower float brackets would collide with the upper bracket as the tide came up.
We use the second style (above left) for situation where the tide comes within 18" of the dock/seawall surface - as these brackets allow the float to come very high without colliding with the upper brackets.

If you have pre-ordered a floating dock from the AccuDock Factory and specified where you would like bump strip installed, your bump strip will be measured and cut to fit your dock, and installed on the float with mitered corners. $7.50 per foot. Depending on the dock - all the bump strip may not be able to be installed prior to delivery - but will be cut to fit for you, so you can install it once the dock is connected together.

This dock is very simple to install and takes only about an hour total. See instructions at our Help & Support pages - complete with pictures and videos. The floating dock platform weighs only 115 pounds.
