  • About the Project

Mohonk Mountain House sits right next to Mohonk Lake and thanks to that body of water the resort offers amenities such as swimming, kayaking, and canoeing. The resort had floating docks in place already for these amenities but realized that they needed a safer way for their guests to launch kayaks and paddle boats. An upgrade of the existing wooden material seemed like a great idea due to weather conditions. The resort needed the floating docks to be made with a material that can resist sunny summers, cold winters, and rainy springs.

Upper management feared that it would be hard to find a product that would match Victorian architecture but knew that they needed to test a solution before committing to the full renovation of their docks.

  • About the Solution

The first purchase made by Mohonk Mountain House was a Kayak Slip Dock. The system made launching and recovering from a kayak/canoe so easy. Upper management was sold on the quality of the product and decided to move forward with replacing their existing wooden docks with AccuDock floating dock systems.

The system included an Aluminum Floating Dock with Dock Slips, two Swim Platforms, an Aluminum Gangway, and a Ramp. The Aluminum Floating Dock is 144 feet long and has 15 20-foot-long slips with a 16-foot-long Ramp.

The Swim Platforms are 64 feet long by 20 feet wide, each with an aluminum gangway. All of the floating docks are equipped with PVC Decking, which is durable and can withstand weather conditions. These systems would help improve the aesthetic of the resort and help maintain the rustic integrity that Mohonk Mountain House is known for.

  • About the Results

The upgrading of the floating docks adds value to the resort. Guests from all over visit Mohonk Mountain House which has hosted many famous visitors. This resort is the perfect place for filming and in fact, has had both movies and shows shoot production at its property. The floating docks make it easier to access the lake and can remain in the water even during the winter months when the water is frozen. Maintenance is easy for the staff, versatile to where it can be used for morning yoga sessions or evening band concerts. Due to the very minimal maintenance needed on the floating docks, the resort can focus on other areas of Mohonk Mountain House, allowing the resort to continue winning awards.
